Beaverton – 5 Guys Burgers and Fries

Five Guys

Finally Beaverton has a fast food style burger, hand pressed and made with never frozen Fresh Ground Beef!    Five Guys Burgers and Fries – which has attained iconic status in Washington, D.C. (They have been franchising the stores for a number of years now and there are more than 1000 stores across the U.S.)– has arrived in Beaverton.

When I arrived at 5 guys with my son to check it out I didn’t really know what to expect, I heard about how good their burgers were but never had the opportunity to try them.

The restaurant itself is bright, and clean. The walls are covered with Five Guys framed press clippings and the restaurant is decorated in a red and white design.  And, while the line to order was a little long, we had no trouble finding a table.

Scattered around 5 guys are boxes of un-shelled peanuts, to be eaten while your burger is being prepared. The peanut shells, along with the press notices, pretty much sum up the decor.

One thing to take notice of with Five Guys is that the portions are very large . A “standard” burger has two patties, so if you want just a regular sized burger order the small “little”.

There are four versions of the burger to start with: plain hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger and bacon cheeseburger. After you pick your burger, you get to select your own toppings: mayo, relish, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, jalapenos, green peppers.

Prices range from $3.39 for a small “little” hamburger to $5.89 for the bacon cheeseburger. Fries will set you back an additional $2.69 or $3.59depending on the size. Considering the quality and quantity of the food that you get it’s a bargain.

According to a sign on the wall, the potatoes come from Moses Lake, Wash. Five Guys take their potatoes seriously. Along with the potato sign, another sign declares that the hamburgers are all cooked well done yet juicy — a difficult combination, but one that Five Guys often manages — and the walls are covered with citations from East Coast media praising the operation.

All in all I would say if your looking for a good burger made with fresh ground beef, and fresh cut fries then 5 guys is the place for you!

Ok, so here goes. I had not been to 5 Guys Burgers and Fries until I saw it featured here.
I had heard about it, but didn’t know the location or much about it really.
So, off we went. Now I gotta say that a great hamburger and fries is at the top in terms of favorites, so it was an easy choice to make. We were totally impressed with the quality of the burger and those fries were delicious. This is a no brainer if you really want to experience a nostalgic trip to the good old days, where you could actually get a great burger and fries. On my scale of 1-10 I would rate this a definite 10 !!!
