Beaverton – Panera Bread – Bakery – Cafe

Panera Bread - Bakery - Cafe

The Sandwich is known to be one of the most iconic lunch foods around, and Panera Bread brings this lunch time favorite justice. Their fresh breads, bakery products, soups and sandwiches are often voted the “best of” in the markets wherever they are located. Panera Bread Bakery-Café was founded by Louis Kane and Ron Shaich in 1981. Since then the company has been very prosperous, and is located all around the country. This Saturday my father and I headed out to one of the Panera Cafes located at 3435 Southwest Cedar Hills Boulevard, Beaverton, Oregon. The first thing we notice when walking into the café was how crowded the place was. This was a sure hint that the food was going to be great!

Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich

Chicken-Bacon Panini

I ordered a Chicken-Bacon Panini-$6.86 made with chicken, Applewood-Smoked bacon, and swish cheese, and my father ordered an Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich-$6.86 made with chicken, fresh celery, seedless grapes, sliced almond, and their special dressing.

The Chicken-Bacon Panini was delicious! The sandwich was served hot, and grilled. The bread was fresh, and the slightly peppery chicken and bacon with Swiss cheese were mouth watering.  I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this sandwich. My father also enjoyed his sandwich, “It was better than your average sandwich, the bread was really fresh and the almond and grapes included in the chicken salad were a nice touch!”

Pecan Roll

Cinnamon Coffee Cake

Although the sandwiches were awesome, the desserts were less than impressive. For dessert we ordered a piece of Cinnamon Coffee Cake and a Pecan Roll, both costing around $2.00. By looking at the desserts they looked amazing, but once we started to dig into them we realized that desserts did not taste nearly as fresh as the bread.

If you are looking for a good sandwich, Panera Bread is your place! If you are looking for a tasty sweet dessert, if what we had that day was typical, you might want to try another bakery. - Jessi Marlow/Beaverton Lunch

El Pollo Loco – Beaverton

El Pollo Loco

As of November 3, 2009 Beaverton has a new El pollo Loco (Spanish for “The Crazy Chicken”) restaurant. The new Beaverton restaurant is located at 3260 SW Cedar Hills BLVD.  It is approximately 2900 Sq Ft and has seating for 60 guests. This is the second El Pollo Loco in Oregon. The first location opened in July of 2008 in the city of Wood Village.

El Pollo Loco is famous for it’s signature citrus-marinated, flame grilled chicken served with warm tortillas. They also serve a wide variety of fresh Mexican inspired entrees.

Lunch at El Pollo Loco

This Saturday I finally got the chance to stop by for lunch. For several months I have been watching as they built El Pollo Loco.

The first thing you see and smell when you walk up to the counter is chicken being grilled on the open flame.

I decided to try the 2 piece combo meal which includes 2 pieces of chicken, 2 side dishes ( I chose the rice and coleslaw ), 2 tortillas and a drink. the Price was very reasonable, I spent $7.39.

Front Counter at El Pollo Loco

I was very pleased with the portions and quality of the food, the chicken was fresh off the grill with a great flavor and the sides were also very tasty.

I really enjoyed the circular, self serve salsa bar featuring El Pollo Loco’s House Salsa, Avocado, Chipotle and Pico De Gallo Salsas, made fresh daily.

I think El Pollo Loco is a welcome addition to the Beaverton lunch scene. Check It Out!

Beaverton Lunch Links: Mingo in Beaverton

Mingo

Located between the light rail line and a parking lot, in the most suburban setting imaginable, Mingo has a different feel than Caffe Mingo: more spacious, less lively, more like a lot of other restaurants. It’s an attractive place, all soft grays and beiges, with sweeping glass outside walls, along with a full bar, which helps set a more laid-back atmosphere. Oregonian – Read More>

Beaverton Lunch Links: McGrath’s Fish House

We recently took my grandmother to McGrath’s Fish House for lunch. I happen to love steamer clams, but I don’t love to make them (I know how easy they are, but I just don’t love it). And the last time I had steamers at a restaurant (at the coast, that shall remain nameless, and that I will not go to again!) they were so tough I couldn’t eat them. So I was needing clams, craving clams, and this seemed like a good time to take care of that! McGrath’s is pretty reliable with their food. Chef Bliss – Read More>

Si Señor Family Mexican Restaurant – Beaverton

Si Señor Family Mexican Restaurant

If you are feeling really hungry and in the mood for Mexican food then you might want to try the all you can eat lunch buffet at Si Senor. This past saturday I found myself feeling exactly that way. I had been trying to watch my calorie intake all week and decided to treat myself. I had been to Si Senor once before with my wife Ellen and I remembered the buffet to be pretty good.

When I walked in I was immediately greeted and shown to my table. The first thing I noticed when I sat down was a full bowl of tortilla chips along with salsa and bean dip. The chips and salsa were fresh and the bean dip was very good.

The waitress asked me if I would like to try the buffet or would I like to order off the menu. Si Senor also offer a full menu of Mexican dishes that include traditional favorites such as Tacos, Tostadas, Burritos, Enchiladas, Fajitas, Seafood, Chicken and Beef. I was really hungry so I chose the lunch buffet.

Si Senor Lunch Buffet

The Buffet features over a dozen freshly prepared dishes plus a salad and salsa bar with fruit and some Mexican dessert items. Si Senor also advertises that there are new items added to the buffet daily. I found the food to be very good and I proceeded to use up all the calories I saved up in the previous week, making three trips back to the buffet. Check it out, I think you will be glad you did.

Lunch at Si Senor

The Prices for the lunch buffet are resonable:

Beaverton Lunch Links: Brunch at DeCarli Restaurant

Decarli Restaurant

DeCarli resides in a stately brick building that hints at the charm downtown Beaverton must have possessed before it became a highly trafficked network of car dealerships, outmoded furniture outlets and banal chain stores. The Italian-leaning restaurant opened two years ago, winning over suburban dwellers hungry for authentic dining experiences, not bottomless salad bowls. The recently added Sunday brunch gives Portlanders ample reason to hop on the Sunset Highway headed west: no waiting, rich coffee and some terrific food finds. Oregon Live – Read More>
