Wong’s King Seafood Restaurant Opens in Beaverton : Lunch News

On Thursday, June 3, I had the honor of being invited to Wong’s King Seafood Restaurants’ newest location, in Beaverton, for its grand opening celebration and banquet. What a wonderful experience.  There was a ribbon-cutting with the owners, elected officials, the president of the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce and dozens of select guests.  As part of the opening, the Portland Lee Association performed a traditional Lion Dance. New Seoul Garden – Korean Barbeque : Lunch Link

Traditional Korean BBQ at your table. The Kalbi and Prawns were fresh and good, the 8 side dishes that come with your meal could have used a little more variety. I guess I’m use to Korean restaurants where the dishes are smaller but more of them and a larger variety. The kimchi soup was perfectly made, with enough spice to make your nose run. The Korean waitress was too funny. She kept trying to get us to eat more & more and actually started hand feeding my dinner date. Oh and the metal chop sticks were a nice touch. Yelp – Read More>

Yuzu : Beaverton Lunch Link

So i went on vacation and had the so called best Ramen in Boston, MA as well as eating a yelp favorite Ippudo in NYC, but after spending over $20 bucks on a effing bowl at Ippudo, i came to the realization that this lil joint in the middle of Beaverton, Oregon is the best Ramen i have had so far. I didn’t get to try all the places in NYC and Boston, but this Ippudo place had over 1000 yelp reviews, so needless to say, you are getting some fine Ramen for coming here. So where did Ippudo fail that Yuzu does so well? Its all in the meat! The meat at Ippudo was like eatting freaking jerky. I was chewing for days, while at Yuzu, you don’t even need teeth. The meat and fat literally melt and slide down your throat. Both broths were comparable and my wife likes the noodles better at Ippudo. Yelp – Read More>

Typhoon! : Beaverton Lunch Link

Typhoon!

So yesterday was like the perfect storm for free food. Our regional manager was in town, two people from our office are moving on to new jobs (including GastroBoy) which meant a goodbye lunch, and someone reminded me that Typhoon! had a downtown location. As the office social chair, I set lunch up. PDX Restaurant Reviews By regular Folks – Read More>

Jin Wah Seafood Restaurant : Beaverton Lunch Link

I had heard good things about Jin Wah from the Guilty Carnivore. At least three times a year, at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, I eat dim sum, and I have to admit, I was less than enchanted about my old “favorites”.

I knew Fong Chong had changed hands since last winter, which might be good, but might also be bad. And I hadn’t heard from anyone who had been there lately.Read More altPortland.com >

L & L Hawaiian Barbecue – Beaverton

L & L Hawaiian Barbecue - Beaverton

Last Saturday my friend Ray and I were looking for good place for lunch, when Ray suggested we try L & L Hawaiian Barbecue. The restaurant is located on the back side of the Beaverton Mall, near Powell Books &  the theater.

Front Counter At L&L

To understand the L&L Hawaiian Barbecue® concept, one must look back to the history of the food that L&L has branded as Hawaiian Barbecue(SM) – the Hawaiian plate lunch. The traditional Hawaiian plate lunch consists of two servings of rice, a serving of macaroni salad, and features a generous serving of a hot entrée (a smaller “mini” version of the traditional plate lunch consists of one serving of rice, a serving of macaroni salad, and a small serving of a hot entrée). L&L Hawaiian Barbecue’s® unique meal composition and signature brand of Asian and American fusion cuisine has helped it to stand out from the others that offer Hawaiian style cuisine.

Hawaiian Barbeque Mix

We tried the Hawaiian Barbecue Mix. This plate includes Hawaiian barbecue beef, chicken, short ribs, 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad.

The price was very reasonable for the amount of food they give you, only $7.75

Ray and I both thought the food was good. I especially liked the barbecue sauce, a combination of sweet and spicy.

The place is very small, only about 6 tables. They appear to do a lot of take out. So if your looking for some good Hawaiian barbecue give L & L a try.

Beaverton Lunch Links: Du Kuh Bee

Du Kuh Bee

Du Kuh Bee

Walk into Du Kuh Bee, a tiny joint on the edge of old downtown Beaverton, whose small sign is easy to miss, and go past the refrigerator, a pile of Korean newspapers and a couple of tables separated by rickety Shoji screens. Take one of four stools at the counter, order the house special handmade noodles and watch Frank Fong go to work. (Read More – Oregonian)
